Pharmacy+Health – Alwoodley

Flagship branch, Pharmacy+Health-Alwoodley had a controlled introduction to using HubRx in August 2023, all whilst also undertaking a full pharmacy refit and other transformation activities.​ From the existing pharmacy:

  • Busy and chaotic 14k item pharmacy
  • Constant patient pressure to fulfil large item volume
  • Single consultation room cluttered rather than clinical​
  • Large dispensary and OTC footprints
  • Unassuming brand and clinical environment

 

Design, plan and implementation stages resulted in a transformed services-led branch:

  • Ordered dispensary utilising HubRx for ~70% of their current dispensing volumes
  • External rebranding and internal refit to maximise clinical services emphasis
  • Replaced with three dedicated consulting spaces​, huge capacity for further clinical services

Pharmacist training and upskilling – HubRx capacity has enabled over 29 competencies and 150 hours of training, delivering increasing clinical services
Dispensary workflow optimised – clear prescription reception area, HubRx booking in area, acute dispensing area, repeat dispensing area, office area and accuracy checking areas.
Patient reception and workflow – reception area with purpose-built prescription-bag retrieval area for efficient dispensary workflow
Reduced retail area and contemporary clinical appearance – CQC-standard consultation rooms, increased retail sales in 50% less space, GPhC-approved P med self-selection introduced

Growth in HubRx utilisation

HubRx also helped the pharmacy to comfortably absorb significant new item volumes as a result of a nearby pharmacy closure.

Over 70% of the available, whole-pack volumes of this 14k items per month pharmacy, are now dispensed by HubRx.​ Later branches achieved 60–70% utilisation within six weeks.

Clinical services uplift

HubRx has enabled its own pharmacy estate to deliver a 400% increase on a range of NHS and private services year on year. The development and introduction of new clinical services continues.

Chart excludes seasonal COVID & FLU but the capacity HubRx has created has allowed those to be delivered in record numbers with less staff.
